How it's done
Soft wash the house. Pressure wash the concrete.
Those are two different jobs and they need two different machines. Using the wrong one is how siding gets water behind it and how a deck ends up furred.
- House Washing
- Vinyl, aluminum, steel and painted siding all clean up without high pressure. Soft washing applies the cleaning solution at low pressure, lets it do the work on algae, mildew and road film, then rinses. It is the method siding manufacturers ask for, and it is what keeps water out from behind the panels.
- Driveway Cleaning
- A rotating surface cleaner covers the slab evenly instead of leaving the wand marks a bare tip leaves behind. Tire marks, oil shadow, leaf tannin and the black film that builds up along the shaded edge all lift.
- Decks
- Deck boards go grey and green from the same algae that gets on siding. Cleaning is done at low pressure with the grain so the wood is not furred up, and it is the step that has to happen before any stain or seal goes on.

What does a house wash cost?
It depends on the size of the house, how much of it is reachable, and what is growing on it. There is no flat rate that would be honest across all three.

Is high pressure going to damage my siding?
It would, which is why siding is not cleaned that way. Houses are soft washed: the cleaning solution does the work at low pressure and then gets rinsed off.
High pressure is for flatwork — concrete driveways, sidewalks and patios — where it belongs.
What areas do you cover?

How long does a house wash take?
Most single family homes are a few hours from setup to rinse. A driveway or a deck on its own is quicker.
What is needed on the day is access to an outside water spigot and any gate that has to be opened.
When is the season?
Exterior washing runs from spring through fall in Wisconsin — roughly once overnight temperatures stay above freezing until they stop.

Do I need to do anything to get ready?
Close the windows, move vehicles and grills clear of the walls, and unlock any gate that needs to be opened. Anything delicate in the beds along the house is worth mentioning on the call.
Is it safe for my plants and flower beds?
Plants and beds along the house are wetted down before any cleaning solution goes on, and rinsed again afterward. A plant that is already wet doesn't take up what lands on it the way a dry one does, and the rinse washes off anything that did.
If something along the walls is especially delicate or valuable, mention it on the call.
My place is on a lake. Is that a problem?
No. Lake homes, cabins, docks and boathouses up north are a big share of the work, and waterfront jobs are done with the shoreline in mind.
